With more than a decade of experience as a nature-based preschool director, I understand all too well the many challenges that come with program-wide implementation of the nature-based approach. This includes everything from consistent teaching practices, working with families, and working with staff. My newest book, Evaluating Natureness: Measuring the Quality of Nature-Based Classrooms in Pre-K through 3rd Grade, was written with my colleagues Drs. Patti Bailie and Arianna Pikus. My book Preschool Beyond Walls: Blending Early Childhood Education and Nature-based Learning, focuses on teaching practices fundamental to the nature-based approach.
